General decisions
OB 101 Class—For newly pregnant women, this two-hour interactive class provides an overview of pregnancy issues and prenatal care. An obstetrician will meet with the class to review developments during each stage of pregnancy and address important issues. For more information, call Katie at (415) 285-7788.
Breastfeeding Education Class—This class introduces the expectant mother to breastfeeding basics. You will learn about the benefits of breastfeeding, how the breasts make milk, and how to handle and position your newborn baby while breastfeeding. Our goal is to help you and your baby have the best breastfeeding experience possible. St. Luke's also offers one-on-one meetings with a lactation specialist if parents have questions or concerns after leaving the hospital. To schedule a lactation consultation, call our Breastfeeding Center at (415) 641-6869.
Maternity Tours—We provide monthly tours of our Women & Children’s Center in both English and Spanish. In this tour, you will see our labor-delivery recovery and postpartum rooms, learn more about our doula program and free prenatal yoga classes, and what to expect upon your arrival at the hospital.
Prenatal and Postpartum Yoga—Our free prenatal and postpartum yoga class includes meditation, visualization, breath practice and yoga poses to safely stretch and strengthen the body in preparation for labor, birth and recovery.
